PUBLICATION ETHICS

Jurnal Al Fikrah adheres to the publication ethics guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal enforces high ethical standards for Editors, Reviewers, and Authors, focusing on three core aspects: 1) Neutrality (freedom from conflicts of interest), 2) Fairness (respecting creators' rights), and 3) Honesty (freedom from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism).

The following statements outline the ethical behavior expected from all parties involved in publishing articles in Jurnal Al Fikrah. These guidelines are based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. The specific duties and responsibilities of editors, reviewers, and authors are detailed below.

DUTIES OF EDITORS

  • Compliance with Templates: The Editorial Board must ensure that authors strictly follow the writing template of Jurnal Al Fikrah. The publisher does not have the right to alter the integrity of the manuscript and is solely responsible for regular and timely publication.

  • Collaborative Decision-Making: Editors may consult with the Journal Manager, fellow Editors, and Reviewers to reach a final decision regarding a manuscript.

  • Objectivity: Editors must evaluate manuscripts objectively, without regard to the author's nationality, ethnicity, political affiliation, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation.

  • Conflict of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from managing a manuscript if there is a potential conflict of interest.

  • Peer Review Confidentiality: Editors must ensure a double-blind review process, meaning manuscripts sent to reviewers must not contain any author information, and reviewer identities must remain confidential.

  • Communication of Decisions: Editorial decisions must be communicated to authors alongside the reviewers' comments, except for feedback that contains personal or defamatory remarks.

  • Reviewer Exclusion Requests: Editors should respect reasonable requests from authors asking to exclude specific individuals from evaluating their manuscript, provided valid justification is given.

  • Handling Misconduct: If editors detect or suspect any ethical misconduct or authorship conflicts, they will resolve the issue by following the guidelines outlined in the COPE flowcharts.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all submitted manuscripts.

DUTIES OF REVIEWERS

  • Substantive Evaluation: Reviewers are responsible for assessing the substance of the manuscript in alignment with the journal’s focus and scope, and providing evaluation recommendations.

  • Reporting Misconduct: Reviewers are expected to provide comments or notify the editorial board if they suspect any violations of writing procedures, publishing ethics, or research integrity.

  • Timeliness: Reviewers must complete their evaluations within the specified timeframe and promptly inform the editorial board if they are unable to meet the deadline.

  • Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding the authors' manuscripts.

  • Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must decline invitations to review a manuscript if there is a potential conflict of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions connected to the paper.

  • Plagiarism and Overlap Detection: Reviewers should alert the editor to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published papers they are personally aware of.

  • Ethical Use of Information: Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and cannot be used for personal advantage.

DUTIES OF AUTHORS

  • Originality: Authors must ensure that their manuscript is entirely original and free from plagiarism.

  • Exclusivity: Authors must guarantee that the manuscript has not been published previously and that they have not transferred the rights of the article to any other party.

  • Proper Citation: Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is their own work and that all external sources are cited accurately according to standard referencing formats.

  • Anti-Plagiarism: Authors must strictly avoid any form of plagiarism, including verbatim copying of another’s work or self-plagiarism.

  • Procedural Compliance: Authors must follow all established submission procedures set by Jurnal Al Fikrah.

  • No Simultaneous Submission: Authors are prohibited from submitting the same manuscript, topic, or title to other journals concurrently.

  • Data Provision: Authors must be prepared to provide raw research data and details if the editorial board suspects doubts, falsification, or plagiarism in the manuscript.

  • Correction of Errors: If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published or submitted work, they are obligated to promptly notify the journal editor to retract or correct the manuscript.

  • Withdrawal Restrictions: Authors are not permitted to withdraw an article that is currently under peer review until it has been returned by the reviewers to the editors.
